Columbian coffee is one of the smoothest coffees in the world. This fair trade single origin coffee (100% Arabica) originates from a mountainous area in southwestern Colombia. The result is mild with smooth caramel and hazelnut notes, with a medium body and subtle fruity acidity.

Cosura is composed of 15 farmer associations and coffee cooperatives from four municipalities in Cauca, the mountainous province of Popayan in southwestern Colombia.

This area has been affected by armed groups who have tried to intimidate producers to do illegal crops. Cosura’s members have been able to overcome these problems by working together as a strong organization. Thanks to Fairtrade Cosura’s members have:

• prevented the cultivation of more than 1,800 acres of coca/poppy & eradicated more than 500 acres of coca
• retained their land and maintained organic coffee production, a tradition that began 100 years ago
• established a food security fund where families grow fruit and vegetables for home consumption
• created a composting program in several communities to generate organic fertilizer and reduce waste

Fair Trade is the best alternative for these farmers as it provides a fair price, greater stability, and hope for their families and communities.
