Our UK based coffee roasters recently invested buildings and machinery for a washing station based in Takengon in the Aceh province, an historically war-torn area of Sumatra that was devastated by the Tsunami.
Lintong Plantation is located in the highlands of Lintong Ni Huta in Region North Tapanuli, province North Sumatera, Indonesia. It is the second largest Arabica Coffee Production area in North Sumatera Indonesia. The land is situated at an altitude of 1,000 – 1,400 meters from sea level and is charaterised by it’s cool and moisty climate (15 to 26 degrees Celcius), where only Organic Fertilizer being used.
Lintong Coffee harvest season is in September to December also March to June. The handpickers only select and pick red and ripe cherries. After handpicking the coffee is depulped and washed with clean water. Then goes to sun dried for one day.
The next step, the coffee is going to Milling factory to be opened the parchment. Then sun dry again until the moisture is 18% and bring to the exporters. In exporter warehouse, the process will be from drying , cupping, screening, gravity and picking to be first grade.
